You a...Looking forward to progress reports, Libby!

You and Barbara Kingsolver are so right about the seasonality of food, particularly fruit. My trips to the farmer's market and grocery today yielded a bountiful "harvest." When I got home and looked at everything I had bought, I wondered how in the world I could eat all the peaches--both saturn and traditional, mangoes, sugar plums, cherries, tomatoes, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, canteloupe, and watermelon that had found their way into my basket. Plus the bag of figs friends gifted us with over the weekend. It is so hard to resist these delights when there is such a limited window of opportunity for them.

When I compared notes with your father later in the day, I found that he too had bought mangoes, so we now have 10 pounds between us! It's rare that we see the wonderful golden sugary ones here, akin to those they call harum manis (sweet smell) in Indonesia and manila in Mexico.

We'll have to think about what we could do with mangoes and fresh eggs...if we ever get them at the same time!Bon Vivanthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05668834096584245112noreply@blogger.com
